SOAR is looking for new members to join our Board of Directors! Are you Interested?

SOAR is looking for new members to join our Board of Directors! Our board members play an

important role in governing the organization and helping us achieve our mission.

SOAR uses its writing for healing workshops and retreats to elevate the voices of black women

and girls to claim their space in environments where they feel disempowered and unseen. As a witness to the trauma, conflict, and confusion some young students faced, in 1995, SOAR’s founder

created a writing for healing curriculum as a pathway to healing. As a result, SOAR has served a

variety of schools and organizations that range from disconnected youth, domestic violence survivors,

women in recovery, incarcerated women to youth aging out of foster care.

There are a variety of opportunities for board members to support SOAR. Board service is adapted

for the individual and board participation looks different for every member. Our board members are

diverse in identity, background, and professional skillsets. Our board members have varying degrees

of familiarity with Robert Moses’ work, with the field of dance, and with the performing arts scene at

large.

Want to learn more? SOAR’s current board members invite you to fill out this brief interest form.

After you’ve submitted the form, we’ll get in touch and discuss what it might look like for you to

join the board.
